Dr. Rebecca Swan currently provides psychological assessment and individual psychotherapy
services to adolescents and adults. Her primary interests and expertise are in
the areas of anxiety and anxiety disorders, specifically obsessive-compulsive
disorder, panic disorder, generalized anxiety, separation anxiety, and specific
phobias. Dr. Swan has expertise in the provision of cognitive behavioral treatments
for anxiety disorders and other conditions, but works with the patient to develop
an individualized treatment plan that may incorporate a number of clinical methods
and approaches. In selected cases she will provide services to children or consultation
to parents regarding their child's condition.
Dr. Swan received her doctorate degree from the University of Minnesota in 1990
and completed her pre-doctoral internship at the University of Chicago and LaRabida
Children's Hospital. Initially trained as a pediatric psychologist, she has extensive
experience with children, adolescents, and adults in both primary care and clinic/hospital
settings. Her background includes work with clients with a diverse range of issues,
including depression, anxiety, and attentional problems (ADHD).
Dr. Swan also provides specialized training to psychology practicum students,
psychiatric residents, and other professionals regarding the assessment and treatment
of anxiety disorders. She speaks frequently about anxiety disorders and other
topics to schools and community organizations. Dr. Swan has taught graduate level
courses in psychological assessment and child assessment and therapy.
